Permanent Action
Deleting a recording is permanent and cannot be undone. The recording files will be removed from all BigBlueButton servers and cannot be recovered. Make sure you have downloaded any recordings you need before deleting.
How to Delete a Recording
- Navigate to Recordings
- Find the recording you want to delete
- Click the ⋮ (more options) button
- Select Delete
- Type the recording name to confirm
- Click Delete Permanently

This will permanently delete "Q4 Sales Review" and free up 1 recording slot. This action cannot be undone.
After Deletion
Recording Deleted
Recording deleted successfully. Your recording count is now 427 of 500.
Bulk Deletion
To delete multiple recordings at once:
- Select recordings using the checkboxes
- Click Bulk Actions in the toolbar
- Choose Delete Selected
- Confirm the bulk deletion
What Gets Deleted
- ✓ All playback formats (presentation, video, notes, podcast)
- ✓ Recording metadata and thumbnails
- ✓ Playback links become invalid
- ✗ Meeting metadata is retained for analytics
Best Practices
- Download first: Export important recordings before deleting
- Use unpublish: If you just want to hide access, unpublish instead
- Check with users: Verify no one needs the recording
- Regular cleanup: Schedule periodic reviews to manage recording counts
